After studying Architecture and then Cinematography in Sydney, Australia, I returned to the UK in the early 1980s.

Back in the UK I was a film camera assistant for 7 years, primarily with Oscar nominated Barry Ackroyd BSC, and others of similar stature, on drama, music videos and documentaries.

Having made the move to DP in the late eighties I relocated to Tokyo in 1991. Having shot a small budget feature ‘Tokyo Skin’ I set myself up as an English speaking DP catering for overseas productions coming to Japan.

Over the last 20 years I’ve shot countless documentaries for the BBC, Discovery Channel, National Geographic, History Channel, ITV, Arté, Smithsonian, ZDF and HGTV, amongst others. I have also shot corporate videos for many of the world’s major brands including Apple, Microsoft, Cisco, Canon, Sony, Toyota, Nissan, BMW, GM, Johnson & Johnson, GlaxoSmithKline, ExxonMobile and Tiffany.

I combine an excellent knowledge of Japan with a good eye – and the best shot I ever do will be the next one.
